The Montenegrin football team has started preparations for the away match against the Faroe Islands in the World Cup qualifiers, as well as a friendly match against Liechtenstein.

New Head coach Mirko Vučinić is ready for the challenges ahead. The "Brave Falcons" will visit the Faroe Islands on October 9, and four days later, they will host Liechtenstein.

- It would, in a certain sense, be easier for me if our rival were Croatia, as we have a significant issue when we have possession of the ball. I will try to improve that; how successful I will be will show in the upcoming matches. In terms of quality, it would certainly not be easier to play against Croatia, but it would suit us better at the moment since we have problems when the ball is with us, said the former captain of Montenegro during his first conversation with journalists.

Vučinić has a plan for his team's play.

- We will have the ball because the Faroese are set up in two defensive blocks – five players at the back and four in the midfield, along with a forward who also drops back into the midfield. It won’t be easy to reach their goal. We defeated them in Nikšić in the last minute; I would sign up for the same scenario on their field. It will be difficult, but it depends on us; I believe we will show great desire, emphasized Vučinić.

However, there will still be issues with injuries during this gathering.

- Due to injuries, besides Adam Marušić, Igor Vujačić and Stefan Lončar are also out. I feel sorry for them, but we must not complain, said Vučinić.

The "Falcons" will have slightly modified preparations for the duel in the Faroe Islands.

- Today we are training on natural grass, and for the next two training sessions before heading to the Faroe Islands, we will practice on artificial turf because that is what awaits us there. I also noticed that the Faroese wet the field, so we will do the same during our training; I hope it helps us somewhat, Vučinić explained.
