Montenegro’s footballers will be aiming for a second win at the start of the World Cup qualifiers tomorrow night at 20:45.

The opponents of the “Brave Falcons” will be the Faroe Islands, a team worthy of respect despite their lower position in the rankings. The first match against Gibraltar is also a warning, as Montenegro needed a lot of effort to secure the win.

- The Faroe Islands are an awkward team, they defend excellently and have great transition. They’re very good from set pieces, it will be anything but an easy match. They also showed away to Czechia that they are a very organised and good side. They equalised in the 83rd minute but conceded immediately after. We know what awaits us. Nothing but a win is acceptable, head coach Robert Prosinečki said at today’s press conference.

The coach reflected on the victory over Gibraltar.

- We didn’t have the approach we wanted, but we still had three 100% chances at the start – if we’d scored then, everything would have been different. However, the points are the most important thing, so we’ve ticked Gibraltar off. Maybe it wasn’t the best performance, but we had 25 shots, 10 on target. Still, we made a lot of mistakes in situations where we needed to stay calm. They caused us problems from free kicks and corners… We’ll try to eliminate that because the Faroes are also very good at those, that’s how they scored against the Czechs, explained the coach, who has a couple of selection dilemmas.

- We tried to rest some players in the first game, like Adam Marušić, who took a knock, and we’ll see if he can play because he hasn’t trained. Nikola Šipčić also has problems because he was hit as well, so there is that dilemma at centre-back. I hope both will be ready. Also, Stefan Popović will be in goal, that was the agreement even before the match with the Faroe Islands.

Striker Nikola Krstović respects tomorrow’s opponent but expects another three points.

- They’re a good national team and we respect them, but we want to take three points. We won’t win the game in the first 10–15 minutes; we have to be fully focused for all 90. Our approach, fight and commitment have to be at the highest level because we know what kind of opponent awaits us, and what kind of pitch as well.

The Lecce forward also commented on the Gibraltar match.

- I’d sign right now to play badly every game if it meant we kept winning. I have to say it’s hard to play matches where three points are written down for you in advance. Maybe our approach against Gibraltar wasn’t the best, but the most important thing is that in the end we won, Krstović stressed.

Tomorrow’s match at the City Stadium will be officiated by a Dutch team led by Allard Lindhout.
