The Montenegro national team held their final training session at the Doosan Arena in Plzeň ahead of the third round World Cup qualifier, in which they will face Czechia’s best team.

Led by captain Jovetić, the “Falcons” spent an hour on the pitch in Plzeň preparing for tomorrow’s clash with the Czechs.

Before training, head coach Prosinečki and captain Jovetić spoke about the team’s ambitions. The coach believes it is time to break the negative streak against Czechia.

- We know there’s a negative record from previous matches, but it’s time to change that. We want to play a real, ‘man’s’ game, and we’ve shown that we can compete with the big teams. I’m optimistic, I believe the players are too, and I expect everything to go well. We have a good atmosphere, and that comes with results. We beat Türkiye, then Gibraltar and the Faroe Islands, and we’re also pleased that a large number of our fans are coming. This is a really important match for us, maybe the most important – a lot of good can happen if we play the way we know, said Prosinečki.

The coach pointed out that the “Falcons” know their next opponent well, having analysed all aspects of their game.

- We watched Czechia’s matches, and I think we’ve scouted them well. We know where they’re dangerous, they have excellent forwards, they’re a compact team, and they have strong individuals like Patrik Schick, but also others. They play in the strongest leagues, from England to Germany… But we’ll give everything to get a good result. We’ve prepared well, we had more time than usual to work, which is very good, the “Falcons” coach stressed.

Prosinečki concluded by noting that the match in Plzeň is extremely important for both teams.

- We have six points, and this one is certainly very important. Whatever happens, nothing will be decided yet, but it’s definitely key. The players are aware of that and will give their maximum, he concluded.

Captain Jovetić believes a point would be a good result, but emphasises that Montenegro will come to Plzeň looking for all three.

- A draw would be an excellent result, but of course we’re not going there to play for a point – we’ll try to stick to our game plan and win. But as I said, a draw would be acceptable, Jovetić said at the press conference. For the first time we’ve had seven days to prepare; usually we only get a few training sessions. We’ve never had more time to get ready properly. We used it well, we’ve studied the Czechs, and the atmosphere is much better now that Stefan Savić is here as well. The atmosphere is positive and I believe we’ll play hard and fight for all 90 minutes. We’ll definitely have our chances, said Jovetić.

The most experienced member of the team added that the newcomers to the squad, Adžić and Bulatović, have left a strong impression during preparations.

- The impressions are great. I met them earlier when I was training with Budućnost. I’m very happy that young players are coming in – that’s exactly what we need and they’ll help us in the future. I feel like they’ve been here longer, even though this is their first call-up. We’ve welcomed them well, the atmosphere is excellent, and I believe they’ll be a big help to us, said the captain.

Jovetić also thanked the fans who will come in significant numbers to support the national team from the stands in Plzeň.

- I’d like to thank the fans. I’m very glad people still travel to support their country. That’s extra motivation for us. I hope we’ll make them happy, Jovetić concluded.

The match between Czechia and Montenegro will be played on Friday, 6 June at the Doosan Arena in Plzeň, with kick-off at 20:45.
