The Montenegro national team was defeated by Czechia 2–0 in the third round match of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
The “Falcons” failed to impose their rhythm at the Doosan Arena in Plzeň or to get a favourable result against the Czechs, who have a perfect record after three rounds.
The Czechs managed to take advantage of the first chance they created – in the 23rd minute Hložek cut in from the left side into the penalty area and, with a right‑footed shot, sent the ball into Nikić’s net.
Our team responded a few minutes later, but Vukotić’s goal was disallowed for a narrow offside position by captain Jovetić.
The hosts were better in the second half; in the first minute after the restart they scored again, but their goal was also disallowed for offside. However, in the 65th minute the Czechs managed to find the way to our net through Schick, who headed the ball past Nikić and sealed his team’s victory.
Our next qualifying match will again be against Czechia, on 5 September 2025.
