Montenegro national team will play a friendly match against Armenia tomorrow in Nikšić.
After the defeat to Czechia in the World Cup qualifiers, the “Brave Falcons” want to get back to winning ways.
- Even though Armenia’s best player Henrikh Mkhitaryan hasn’t played for them for a long time, they are still a very solid team that plays in a 4-1-4-1 system. I’m pleased that we have a debutant, we’ll try out some new players, and those who have played less so far will also get a chance, so I’m hoping for an interesting and good match, said Robert Prosinečki at today’s press conference.
The coach also reflected on the defeat in Plzeň.
- The first half was good, in the second we completely dropped off. We couldn’t get control, we weren’t dangerous, we couldn’t keep the ball, there was a lot of space but we failed to use it. That’s certainly worrying. We thought we would play much better than we did, Prosinečki pointed out, adding that the game against Armenia is also important.
- Now this upcoming match is important because of the atmosphere. I’m hoping for a good outcome, a quality game, and then we will analyse what we did in June and prepare for September.
During this camp, Prosinečki had the opportunity to assess Vasilije Adžić and Andrija Bulatović, but he does not want to put pressure on the talented teenagers.
- We certainly won’t judge them on one match. We know they are super-talented boys who took us to the European Championship, but that doesn’t mean they will necessarily shine tomorrow. They will definitely get chances in the future because they have quality and we believe in them a lot. We definitely need youth. We will try, as the cycle continues, to give more opportunities to younger players. Adžić should have made his debut earlier, but injuries stopped him.
The match against Armenia, in his hometown Nikšić, will be Adžić’s debut for the senior national team.
- Of course I’m ready for my debut. I’ve been waiting a long time for this moment. Three injuries prevented me from debuting earlier and showing my qualities. In my head I have always been preparing for this moment, said the Juventus midfielder.
The talented playmaker says he is extremely happy with the last few days in the national team.
- It’s a phenomenal feeling. Everyone has accepted us in a great way, given us support from the first training session, shown us trust, and in training we’ve shown that we can play and that we know what we’re doing. Naturally, I won’t even start on how I used to look up to Jovetić and Savić in the past; it’s a privilege to share a dressing room with them and learn from them, both as people and as footballers, said Adžić, who also wished good luck to his teammates from the youth national team at the European Championship.
- I’d like to use this opportunity to wish good luck to my brothers at the European Championship, those are the guys I spent five years with. They have proved many times that they can play even without some of the key pieces of the team. I’m convinced they will achieve another big feat, said Adžić.
