Montenegro national football team play one of the most important matches of this World Cup Qualifiers tomorrow evening at 20:45.
The unpleasant tradition of the "Falcons" against the Czechs is an additional motivation to secure three points at the City Stadium in Podgorica.
- The Czech Republic is a black cat for our team; we have lost all six encounters. But we play in front of our fans, I believe they will recognize the moment and support us because this is the most important match for the national team so far in the qualifiers. If we win, we would have serious chances to fight for World Cup Qualifiers, coach Robert Prosinečki said at today’s press conference.
In the June meeting between these teams, the Czech Republic won 2–0 in Plzeň. However, three days later they were convincingly beaten by Croatia.
- The Czech team is very good; the 5–1 defeat in Osijek is not their true picture. Against us in the first match they were physically superior; they are dangerous from set pieces — that’s how they scored against us and Croatia. That is their strongest weapon. I believe we can play a good game; we only care about victory, no calculations, Prosinečki added.
The coach emphasized that he counts on the young players now in the squad.
- They are ready and eager and will certainly give their maximum if given a chance. These are talented lads who play at clubs, except for Adžić, who does not have much playing time at Juventus. We expect him to start getting minutes; he is registered for the Champions League, which means they are thinking of him, and we know how talented he is and what he can offer. Bulatović is with the Lens squad, and the duo from Partizan, Milan Roganović and Milan Vukotić, play regularly and very well. Vukotić is the engine of that young team and can certainly contribute to the national team, explained the coach, who again faces absences. For the matches against the Czech Republic and Croatia he cannot count on goalkeeper Igor Nikić, Adam Marušić, Risto Radunović, Milutin Osmajić, and Andrija Radulović.
One who has become well acquainted with the Czech team over the years is Stefan Savić, since 2011 and the EURO playoff.
- They have beaten us six times, but they are not invincible. I would rather call it a coincidence, because we have lost to them even when we faced stronger teams. The Czechs are, of course, a very good and uncomfortable team, primarily physically strong. Every tradition exists to be broken, and I believe now is the right time. We play in front of our fans in a very important match and I am sure we have the quality to end that unpleasant streak, Savić said.
The commander of the "Falcons" defense commented on the match in Plzeň.
- I don't think they dominated that much, especially not at the start. They opened the scoring from a set piece; then Vukotić’s goal was disallowed for a millimeter offside and it was hard to come back, especially after they scored the second goal. At that time, we were missing some players, and at the end of the season we were not in optimal physical condition — I was not either. It was the end of the season before which, probably for the first time in my career, and the season is not short, I did not go through pre-season with the team. In many moments I went more with my heart than my head and all that led to injuries following one another. Now I feel much better, I completed preparations and started the season well with my club. I believe my performance will help achieve the best possible result for our team, said the defender of Turkish side Trabzonspor.
