The Montenegro national team was defeated in their sixth-round World Cup qualification match against Croatia at the Maksimir Stadium, ending with a 4-0 victory for the home team.
Our team, which played with 10 players from the 42nd minute due to the questionable sending off of Bulatović, struggled to properly address the rival in the second half.
The first half ended with a narrow lead for the Croatia – despite not having clear chances in the first part, the hosts took the lead with a left-footed goal by Jakić from the edge of the penalty area in the 35th minute. Seven minutes later, the German referee harshly issued a second yellow card to the teenager from our midfield, which greatly influenced the proceedings in the remainder of the match.
Croatia doubled their lead in the 51st minute through Kramarić and scored two more goals toward the end. The third goal came from Majer's shot, which deflected off Kuč, and Perišić set the final score in injury time.
The next World Cup qualification match for our team will be in October, away at the Faroe Islands.
