The sixth match in the World Cup qualifying campaign has been played…
The Montenegrin national team was defeated in their away match against the Faroe Islands with a score of 4:0 in the sixth round of qualification for the World Cup.
The "Falcons" failed to impose themselves against the rival and could not achieve the result they sought in Torshavn. The hosts utilized all the advantages they had in this clash and managed to secure a significant three points.
Our team started the match well, maintaining possession of the ball and completely controlling the game. From that possession and control came two chances—a shot from Krstović from the edge of the penalty area and a header attempt from Osmajić—but there were no significant challenges for the home goalkeeper.
The first visit to our penalty area was rewarded with a goal by the Faroese—Sorensen scored with a shot from about ten meters, giving the hosts the lead. Twenty minutes later, the Faroe Islands doubled their advantage after a set piece, with Roganović's intervention causing the ball to deceive Nikić.
In the second half, the rival found the back of our net two more times—Sorensen scored his second goal in the 55th minute, and Frederiksberg converted a penalty in the 72nd minute to set the final score.
Our next match will be on Monday, October 13, in Podgorica against the Liechtenstein national team, starting at 18:00.
