The Montenegrin national team trained this evening on the artificial turf at the training camp of FK Budućnost to "get a feel" for the conditions they will encounter in Gibraltar on Friday night.
The duel against the last-placed team in the group brings additional motivation for the "Falcons."
- I am not afraid of failure. Our team is youthful, but that should not put pressure on us; it should motivate us to work even better and harder and to enter the upcoming match on Friday fully prepared, Milan Vukotić stated at tonight's media briefing.
The talented midfielder wants the team to show signs of progress starting from their next match.
- The coach asks us to emphasize our passing game and supports us in that. We young players need to have more confidence, take risks upon ourselves, and start looking better from match to match in order to achieve a nice result, said the Partizan player.
The "Falcons" have lost their chances to qualify for the World Cup, but that does not mean they won't be motivated in the matches against Gibraltar and Croatia.
- It’s up to us to give our all in these two matches to secure victories. We are much more quality than Gibraltar, but words mean nothing if we don’t show it on the field. We want to bring joy to the fans and justify everyone’s belief that this generation can achieve great things in the future. The next two matches can be a great introduction to the upcoming period. Our goal is to bring smiles to our faces and to everyone who has written us off in the past, to restore faith in ourselves and confidence in the national team, Vukotić emphasized.
In Gibraltar, as well as in the Faroe Islands in October, they will face a field with artificial turf.
- It's tricky because 90 percent of the players on the national team play on natural grass in their clubs. Artificial turf creates problems in some segments, making it harder to control the ball, but we have to get used to it, said the "Falcon" midfielder, who commented on the next rival.
- They have a similar style of play to the Faroe Islands. They are quite strong, and we will need to win the 'second balls' because they are good at that. We will try to score as soon as possible and then bring the match to our advantage.
